The transforming power of love shared in the joy of a beautiful smile was the inspiration for this painting. The beaming image and wrinkled face of this Balinese woman, clearly showing her inner beauty and a life spent in joy, was too enticing to resist. I wanted to create a focus for her joyful expression, so I added the hands, added sacred eagle feathers within them from which butterflies are emerging. These are her messengers of joy. They spread the power of love and joy wherever they may fly creating a smile on another face.
